My mom called me yesterday and told me that a close friend had passed away. His name was Dakota McNabb and he was only 14 years old. He had a rough past year and even though we all thought he was getting better, he wasn't. I babysat Dakota and his younger sister Madison for a few years. I became very close to both of them, and their parents as well. Dakota was a great kid. He loved to play sports and was just overall one of the sweetest kids I have ever known. He will be greatly missed. It feels like I've lost a younger brother. I'm trying to keep my head up as difficult as it is. Rest in peace Dakota, I love you <3
Got the news the other day,
a child's innocence taken away.
(You were never scared, I'll always care)
Grandson to son and a memory we'll never lose in time.
Am I making you proud of me?
'Cause I know you can hear me.
You were too young, too fast for you to go
and now I don't understand why.
I can't stand to watch a mother and father cry.
I look up to you.
Four years your younger brother caused me to always wonder why.
(If it's the only way, I'll talk to you)
Home is not home, I swear I'll still see you.
I miss you.
Am I making you proud of me?
'Cause I know you can hear this.
You were too young, too fast for you to go
and now I don't understand why.
I can't stand to watch a mother and father cry.
I look up to you.
You were too young, too fast for you to go
and now I don't understand why.
I can't stand to watch a mother and father cry.
I look up to you.
